About
What is Future Sex? - A series of six monthly two-hour public seminars, designed as conversations between scholars working in similar areas of sexuality research across a range of disciplines. Why a seminar series on Future Sex? - We hope that this project will, first and foremost, foster dialogue between a wide range of scholars and community activists. The inter-disciplinary nature of the seminars/conversations is an attempt to recognize the way in which contemporary work on sexuality is located along a series of cultural, political and social faultlines which are not contained within a strictly academic milieu. These faultlines are themselves situated within a specific temporal arc, existing both within the new millennium and within a series of discourses questioning the future of theoretical and political approaches to knowledge about sex. The organization of the seminars is thus an attempt to develop the inherent implications of how intellectual and political work on sexuality might proceed in this century. Where is Future Sex? - Macquarie University; see the schedule for individual seminar venues. When is Future Sex? - The third Thursday of every month in term, starting March 21, 2002.
