Macquarie Tsinghua Cooperation in Communication and Journalism

A team of delegates from the top-ranked Chinese university, Tsinghua University were at Macquarie University from the 26th to the 28th of April for the Second Joint Australia-China Higher Degree Research Workshop in Communication and Journalism. The first workshop, attended by a delegation from Department of International Communication of Macquarie University, was held in Beijing in December 2005. The Chinese delegates were led by Professor Li Bin, Associate Dean of the School of Journalism and Communication, Tsinghua University.

Professor Steven Schwartz, the Vice Chancellor of Macquarie University, addressed the conference delegates at the post-conference dinner, noting that the workshop and conference would contribute to the development of international linkages. Prof. Li Bin expressed the hope that the Tsinghua-Macquarie Higher Degree Research Workshop in Communication and Journalism should become an annual event, drawing delegations from other universities as time passes.
